Chelsea are very close to completing a deal for Genk winger Kevin De Bruyne according to reports in the UK.

The 20-year-old Belgian was first linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer, as Chelsea were reportedly preparing a double bid for De Bruyne and young goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

And while the club only succeeded in their capture of the latter, who has since been loaned out to La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid, Chelsea have made no secret of their continued interest in De Bruyne, and had an opportunity to witness his talents firsthand after they were drawn against Genk in the Champions League group stage.

Following two impressive showings down the left, De Bruyne seems to have convinced Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas he can do a role for the club, with the Daily Mail reporting the player's agent Patrick de Coster will soon open talks with Genk officials over a possible transfer.

Villas-Boas has already announced his intention to bring in two new signings during the January transfer window, one of them being Bolton defender Gary Cahill, who is yet to agree personal terms with Chelsea.

Despite playing out on the left, De Bruyne is capable of regularly weighing in with goals, and scored a hat-trick last October in Genk's 5-4 loss to Club Brugge.
